Congratulations to PhD student, Ben Pulver on being named one of two awardees of the Moira Whalon Prize at Massey College, where he is a Fellow and resident.
The Moira Whalon Prize recognizes one or several Junior Fellows who have embodied the spirit and the ethos of the college. Moira Whalon was the first Secretary of Corporation, a friend and champion of the Junior Fellows, instrumental in the founding of the Alumni Association, and worked tirelessly to support the Massey community.
The awards committee shares that “In his two years at Massey college, Ben has continually worked to build community at the college. As Co-Chair of the Community Service Committee, Ben revitalized the “Friday Food Ministry,” where members of the Massey community volunteer by cooking and serving Friday dinners at St. Thomas’s Church soup kitchen. He also regularly contributes to the arts community at Massey, co-editing the Spring 2023 issue of Audeamus and working as a Printing Apprentice in the Bib Room. Ben has also hosted two episodes of the JCR podcast, one on the impacts of ChatGPT on different fields of research and one on the connection between architecture and mental well-being. In his interdisciplinary and community-oriented work at the college, Ben embodies the spirit and values of Massey College.”
